our Advisors

Joe Bryant – General Manager. Joe is the Broadcast Media Instructor at Mercer Island High and the General Manager of KMIH- 889 The Bridge. Joe worked at KISW, KZOK, and KJR co-hosting the popular Bob Rivers Show, which aired in Seattle for 25 years. He started teaching at Mercer Island High in 2015, Bryant says he has the best job in the world and loves sharing his knowledge of the entertainment and media industry with the next generation of great broadcasters.

Jon Kasprick – Chief Engineer. Building the Bridge is an ongoing project and Jon is the person in charge of planning improvements and keeping us on the air. He is also the Chief Engineer at KGRG and an Instructor at Green River College.

Natalie Woods - Community Outreach Coordinator. Natalie brings nearly 20 years of broadcast journalism experience to KMIH. She has worked as a news reporter and producer in television and radio stations throughout the U.S., in Russia and the United Arab Emirates. Natalie is able to use her broadcasting expertise, along with her involvement in the schools and youth organizations on Mercer Island, to develop student broadcasters and enhance the station’s presence in the community.

Shannon Tapp - ABRO Advisor. Shannon is one of the Business and Marketing teachers at MIHS. She is also the DECA Advisor for the school. She is ready to bring her years of experience in marketing to the station.

21-22 Student Leadership Team

Gabe Gottesman - General Manager. Gabe Gottesman is a senior at Mercer Island High School and one of the student general managers. It is his 4th year in the radio program and he is excited to teach the new students how to find their footing on the air and around the station, and spread KMIH's community outreach. Gabe also broadcasts sports for 88.9, serving as the play-by-play broadcaster for the football games. Outside of radio, Gabe likes to spend time with his two older siblings, watch sports, and he has recently started running with the cross country team. You can listen to The GPS Show with Gabe and Scott every Friday from 4-6 PM.

Audrey Sadlier - Program Director. Audrey Sadlier is a senior at Mercer Island High School and has been a part of 88.9 The Bridge for 4 years. She is excited to broadcast sports, produce more content for the station, and mentor new staff this year. Outside of radio, Audrey loves to golf, swim, hike with her dogs, cook, and ski. You can listen to her show Keep It Real every Saturday at 2pm.

Scott Pirak - Sports Coordinator. Scott Pirak is a senior at Mercer Island High School and is the sports coordinator/director for the radio station. As a soccer player and sports enthusiast, he loves playing and watching all sports, but especially football and the Seattle Seahawks. Scott and his friend Gabe Gottesman co-host the GPS sports show on Fridays from 4-6 PM. Heis very excited to be entering his fourth year on the station, and cannot wait to air all-new segments and content on the show. You can also find him doing play by play and color commentary with his peers for the high school basketball, football, soccer, lacrosse, and baseball teams.

Marko Marceta Marko Marceta is a senior at Mercer Island High School and is the host of 88.9 The Bridge’s Morning Live Show which you can hear every Monday morning. Marko has a passion for broadcasting live on the air and mentoring younger students. This is his fourth year of being part of the station, and in his free time, he enjoys playing Water Polo and swimming for Mercer Island’s Swim and Dive team. He has been eager to be a part of the station for one last year.

Will is a senior at Mercer Island High School, and he is entering his 4th year of radio. He is excited to help teach the new kids about radio and help broadcast live sports. Outside of radio, he likes to play hockey and golf. Go listen to his show, The Water Break, on Spotify, or find it on the airwaves at 8PM Friday Nights. Go Snails!

Andrew Pearson is a senior sports show host and commentator for 88.9 The Bridge. Straight from the heart of Dallas Texas, Andrew delivers snappy and fiery analysis on all things football. You can listen to his show “Bubby Brister's Brunch Buddies” at four o'clock on Thursdays, where he and his partner in crime Harry Gollin break down the history of the NFL! We promise, whatever comes out of his mouth will be better informed than “professional” pundits or the armchair Quarterbacks on Twitter! He also loves to do his best Tony Romo impression on Fridays during football season, as he provides color commentary for the Mercer Island football team.

McLean Hopkins is a senior at Mercer Island High School. It is his fourth year in the radio program broadcasting live sports and running late shows. Outside of radio, he likes to write and play music, read, and spend time with friends. You can listen to his shows The Water Break every Friday from 8 to 9 PM and The Rutabaga Mondays and Fridays from 10-11 PM

Creed Finifrock is a senior at Mercer Island High School. It is his 4th year in the radio program and he is excited to produce his shows and learn more about running a radio station this year. Outside of radio, Creed likes to play soccer, wrestle, rock climb, travel, and spend time with friends. You can listen to his show “The Water Break” on Fridays at 8pm, and his show “That’s Debatable” on Wednesday mornings at 7.

Sophie Prock - Junior General Manager. Sophie Prock is a junior at Mercer Island High School and will be one of this year's General Managers. It is her third year as a part of the 88.9 Staff, and she is excited to learn more about music programming. Outside of radio, Sophie enjoys playing volleyball for Mercer Island High School and spending time with her dog. You can listen to her music show, SophiEDM on Tuesdays at 7:00 AM.

Andrew Howison - Junior Program Director/ Digital Media Director. Andrew Howison is a junior at Mercer Island High School. He will continue to oversee the Website and Digital Media this year. He is continuing Behind the Screen with his friends Matthew and Quinn. Outside of school, Andrew is heavily involved with Friendship Circle of Washington, where he is the Vice President of the Student Leadership Board and spends most of his Sundays volunteering there.

Matthew Pangallo is a junior at Mercer Island High School. It’s Matthew’s third year in radio this year and is excited to start his first year as Junior Digital Media Director. When not working for the station, Matthew is in flight school as well as plays lead guitar in a rock band, Puget Sound. Be sure to tune into his show, Behind The Screen Wednesday’s at 5pm.

Quinn Haba - Music Director. Quinn Haba is a junior and the music director of KMIH. He previously hosted Behind the Screen along with Andrew Howison and Matthew Pangallo, and now co-writes and co-hosts Almost Weekend Update. His goal as Music Director is to amplify the musical voice of Mercer Island and appeal to both students and parents. Outside of the station, Quinn plays for the MIHS tennis team and serves as the singer for the band Puget Sound, alongside Matthew.

Jonathan Aggar is a junior this year and it is his 3rd year of radio broadcasting. He typically does live shows while in the station and loves to make videos showing how our radio station works. When Jonathan is not doing radio, he enjoys mountain biking, video games, making music, and being Creative!

Theodore Freeman is a Junior at Mercer Island High School. It is his second year in the radio program and he is excited to come back and start making content. When he was on the radio previously, he had a variety show, coordinated most Basketball broadcasts, and appeared on two National High School Radio Network broadcasts. He is a self-described "Pop music connoisseur" and listens to many of the songs on the Billboard Hot 100 and Rolling Stone Top 100 of the past and present on a daily basis. Outside of Radio, he would request that you shouldn't talk to him about public transport or Pokémon, as he will not stop talking when you start him.

Sidh Shroff - Sophomore General Manager. Sidh Shroff is a sophomore at MIHS and is really excited to continue broadcasting radio this year. Inside the station, you can find Sidh live or teaching others to create radio. Outside KMIH, Sidh enjoys music composition, playing tennis, and acting at Youth Theatre Northwest.

Sophie Cartwright is a sophomore at MIHS. It is her second year on the fine radio program 88.9 The Bridge. You can often hear Sophie broadcasting school games or hosting her show, Six of Spades, Saturday’s at 10 AM! Should you run into her outside of school you may find her playing guitar, yo-yoing, or singing some karaoke. This year Sophie took a role on radio leadership and is working towards learning new skills that can benefit her and the station.

Molly Rojas is a junior at Mercer Island High School and is in her third year of the radio program. You can listen to her on her new show Mischief Managed where she will be reviewing and rating books. This year she is most excited to broadcast sports and to record her show. Outside of the station you can find her playing soccer, reading, and teaching her dog Leia new tricks.

Ellie Sadlier is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School. It is her second year in the radio program and she is excited to learn more about programming music. Outside of radio, Ellie loves to read, listen to music and attend concerts. You can listen to her show Keep It Real on Saturday’s at 2pm and Broken Record on Tuesday at 6pm!

Sophia Azzano is a junior at Mercer Island High School. It is her second year in the KMIH radio program and she is excited to spend time learning more and more about Sports Media and Broadcasting. Outside of radio, Sophia has other interests such as watching soccer, baking, and occasionally gaming. You can listen to her during live sports broadcasts and morning shows.

Annabelle Hegarty - Traffic Director. Annabelle is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School in her second year in the radio program. She is excited to learn more about programming the station and producing her work. Outside of radio, Annabelle enjoys playing basketball, reading, and hanging out with friends.

Elise McDonald is a sophomore at MIHS. It is her second year in the radio program and she is so excited to continue her show, thinking out loud, from last year. Outside of radio, Elise loves to play the guitar, dive, and play with her dog. You can listen to thinking out loud with Kendall and Maddie every Friday at 4PM. She is super pumped for this epic upcoming year of radio!

Advanced Students

Jackson Hegarty is a senior going into his fourth year of radio with his award-nominated show The Rutabaga, which airs Mondays at 10 pm and Fridays at 11 pm. In addition to having one of the most popular shows on 88.9 The Bridge for four years in a row, Jackson is also highly praised for his amateur movie reviews, groundbreaking philosophical theories, and his unprecedented detective work. He also fancies himself funny, but no one agrees with him on that front.

Lucas Sweeney is a junior at MIHS and an advanced student in radio. He has been on KMIH for 3 years and continues to produce on it. Off of radio, he enjoys hanging out with friends, waterpolo, video games, ect. In freshman year he was on a show called “variety report” with a fellow freshman and a senior. Over quarantine he (not so successfully) kept the show going briefly. If there’s one food he couldn’t live without it would be pork.

Luca Galvin is a junior at Mercer Island High school. It is his 2nd year in the MIHS radio class and he is excited to continue his “regular radio” show throughout the year. Another thing he is excited to learn is more about how to work the Radio station’s various technological devices. Finally he is excited to finally have a real school soccer team.

Ajay Manhas is a junior at MI, this his third year in the radio program and he is looking forward to doing more sports broadcasting this year especially doing some basketball games. Outside of radio Ajay likes playing tennis and is the captain of the boys varsity tennis team. You can listen to the Ajay Will and Noah show every Thursday in the 6 o’clock hour to hear some Seattle sports talk.

Carys Ciobanu is a senior at Mercer Island High School, and this will be her 4th year being a part of KMIH. She won a Golden Microphone last year for Best Community Outreach. Carys has a show this year with Nina called Gen-Z Trends. They’ll be bringing you guys the newest fashion trends, and the latest happenings at Mercer Island High School and in our community. Carys enjoys being Captain of the MIHS Cheer Team and Sparkle Cheer, President and Founder of the Fashion & Style Club, and hanging out with her friends.

Kendall Kapsner is a sophomore at Mercer Island. It is her second year in the radio program and she is exited to continue her show Thinking Out Loud. Outside of radio, Kendall likes to play volleyball, and paint.

Miles Avilez is a junior at Mercer Island High School, and it is his second year in the radio program. He runs for the cross country team, and he loves watching and playing sports in his free time. Miles is looking forward to continuing his show and podcast “That’s Debatable” with his co-host, Creed which you can hear at 7-8m on Thursdays.

Grace Go is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School and is part of KMIH’s leadership team. She also is a part of “Rice & Shine” one of the station’s most listened to shows. Grace enjoys being on air and meeting new people.

Joey Lurie is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School. It is her 2nd year in the radio program and she is excited to start her knew show this year. Outside or radio, Joey likes to play soccer and hangout with friends. You can listen to their show Anything and Everything every tuesday at 5pm.

Jack Beebe is a junior at Mercer island high school. It is his 3 year in the radio program and they are excited to what they want to learn this year. Outside of radio he likes to play sports and hang out with friends. You can listen to their show pitviper podcast on Tuesday from 8-9.

Ellie Oordt is a junior at Mercer Island High School and will be graduating in the year of 2023. Ellie took Radio as a freshman and then took a break sophomore year, but this year she is ready and excited to be back. Ellie swims on Mercer Island Swive, and has since she was a freshman. She also loves music, hanging out with friends, and her family. Ellie also loves watching all sports especially football. She is very excited to be talking on 889 the bridge and hopes you all listen to both of her shows "Anything and Everything" and "The Bella and Ellie Show”.

Nick Neyhart is a senior at MIHS. He is in his 4th year with the radio program. He has been doing the comedy show The Rutabaga since his freshman year with fellow radio members Jackson Hegarty, Fenway Rowland, and McLean Hopkins. Outside of Radio Nick is In the Mercer Island High School marching band. You can listen to Nick and the rest of the Rutabaga at 10-11pm on mondays and 11-12pm on fridays.

Nick Harper is a senior at Mercer Island High School. It is his 3rd and last year of radio and he intends to make the most of it. Outside of class, Nick likes to hike, ski, and camp. You can listen to his amazing show, The Cockpit, every Saturday from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Maddie Brown is a sophomore at Mercer island high school. It is her second year in the radio program and she is excited to join a new show. Outside of radio, Maddie likes to play tennis and run. You can listen to her show Thinking Out Loud on Fridays at 4.

William Acker is a junior at Mercer Island High School. It is his second year in the radio program and he is excited to get on the air more. Outside of radio, William likes to listen to music, travel with family and do Sparkle cheer.

Dylan Shobe is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School. It is his 2nd year in the radio program and he is excited to produce more sports talk content for the station. Outside of radio, Dylan plays lacrosse and likes to bike in his free time. You can listen to his sports talk show on Friday’s at 7am.

Melena Wong is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School. This is her second year working at the station and has a radio show with her friend’s Caitlin Monahan and Ryan Boyle. She loves going live and playing trivia games. She plays for the high school volleyball team and loves to hike and explore the outdoors with her friends. You can tune into her show Speaking Of: every Tuesday at 4!

Sai Pipavath is a senior at Mercer Island High School. It is his 2nd year in the radio program and he is excited to learn more about the technical side of radio media production. Outside of radio, Sai likes to go to the gym and try new foods. You can listen to Sai on the Waterbreak sports talk show on fridays at 8 PM and on Spotify.

Griffin Deal is a senior at Mercer Island High School. It is his second year in the radio program and he is excited to learn how to use the radio station in person. Outside of radio, Griffin likes to play sports and hang out with friends. You can listen to his show, The Cockpit every Saturday from 7 to 7:30 PM

Jackson Agee is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School. It is currently his second year in the radio program and He is very eager to learn more about production of his own shows. Outside of Radio Jackson enjoys listening to 2000s music and his favorite artist is Bruno Mars. Jackson is planning to launch multiple shows including Cinema Chat and the Uncommunicative community Podcast.

Woody Brown is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School. It is his 2nd year in the radio program and he is excited to start expanding my show (Straight from the Table) to Spotify or doing a live performance! Outside of radio, Woody likes to play soccer competitively and hang out with friends. You can listen to their show (Straight from the Table) from 11am to 11:20am on Saturday’s.

Daniel Chivo is a senior at Mercer Island High School. It is his 2nd year in the radio program and he is excited to broadcast once again this year. Outside of radio, Daniel likes to go hiking and camping with his family and friends. You can listen to his show “The Pitviper Podcast” every Tuesday evening.

Max Taylor is a senior at Mercer Island High School. It is his final year in the radio program and he is excited to further the stations promotional and advertising department this year. Outside of radio, Max likes to play and watch football, surf, and try new things. You can hear his many liners, positioners, and promos at any time on the air

Sadie Jensen is a junior at Mercer Island High School. It is her 2nd year in the radio program and she is excited to get not only her shows but possibly her own music on air this year. Outside of radio, Sadie is in the drama program at MIHS and loves acting, singing, and dancing. You can listen to her shows Starry Nights With Sadie every Sunday at 7 pm and The First Period Crew Wednesday mornings at 7 am.

Lauren Suzuki is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School. It is her second year in the radio program and she is excited to get into the studio after a year of being online. Outside of radio, Lauren likes to play volleyball and spend time with her friends. You can listen to her show, Rice & Shine, on Sundays at 9 am.

Azad Khan is a junior at Mercer Island. When he’s not on Power Predictions & The Pit Viper he enjoy trying new foods, traveling, and hanging out with friends and families! He loves to crack jokes and have a fun life. Tune in to his shows Power Predictions and Pit Viper Tuesday at 8 and the Pit Viper Tuesday at 9 so you get 2 hours of him!

Will Thomas is a senior at MIHS and is now in his 4th year in the radio program. Outside of radio he is curating playlists, playing games, and expanding his knowledge of wacky facts stories. He is also an appreciator on art. Any form: music, film, books. If it is well put together and thoughtful /thought provoking it is worth his time.

Ryan Boyle is a sophomore at mihs, He spends his time playing football, basketball, and hanging out with friends. He loves making great radio on 88.9 the bridge. It is his 2nd year in the radio program. You can listen to his show “speaking of….” The show airs on Wednesdays at 4, stay tuned!!!

Caroline Capuano is a stealthy senior currently completing her second year of radio. Caroline absolutely loves the high energy environment of the station and can’t wait to make some more captivating content for the season. Outside of radio she’s in the magnificent journalism program here at MIHS as well a the famous the show choir, Island Sound. Be sure to tune into her new show titled “First Period Crew” with her fellow class mates Annabelle and Sadie for some funny morning time gags. One mantra Caroline always lives by is “Be nice and cool and fun and yay!” Be sure to tune into KMIH to listen to her witty comments and stellar promos :)

Nina Hobson is a junior at MIHS. This is her 2nd year of radio. Outside of the radio station, she enjoys being on the MIHS cheer team, and being a part of the Fashion and Style Club. This year she is planning on having another show with Carys Ciobanu. The topic and time that it will air is TBD so stay tuned!

Bella Sandwith is a junior at Mercer Island High School. It is her 2nd year in the radio program and she is excited to produce a ton of great radio this year and learn lots more about creating great content for anyone and everyone to listen to. Outside of radio, Bella enjoys playing soccer, listening to music and spending time with her friends, family and dog. You can listen to her show, “The Bella and Ellie show” every Wednesday morning at 8AM.

Everett Weeks is a senior at Mercer island high school. It is his 2nd year in the radio program, and he is exited to put his musical and audio based talents to work in the advanced class. He enjoys making music digitally and running cross country in his free time. You can listen to his show with his friends Theo Richardson and Will Thomas on Monday’s!

Gill MacDonald is the sports man in the station and is in his junior year at the high school. It is his 3rd year in the radio program, which displays how much he loves the class. Being almost a veteran in the class now, he is excited to try different things out this year in the radio realm like making a YouTube channel, and uploading his Power Predictions show on that. He likes playing guitar and lacrosse as well as listening to music outside of school. He is super excited to be talking on the radio again with Azad and Evan on Power Predictions; you can hear their voices on Tuesdays at 8 o'clock.

Harry Weil is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School. It is his 2nd year in the radio program and he is very excited to be back and doing his show Marvel Talk. His show does not have a specific day and time that it will be aired. Outside of radio, Harry loves to play soccer and be outside and hangout with his friends. Harry is very excited to be a part of the KMIH The Bridge team again and can’t wait to be heard on the radio.

Luke Sandmaier is a senior at Mercer Island High School. He enjoys spending time with friends and playing sports. He is a team captain for Track and Cross Country and loves being a part of the great radio team at MIHS. He has a show with 3 other MIHS students called the Cockpit.

Jenna Martin is a sophmore at Mercer Island High School. It is her second year in the radio program and she is excited to go live and have a show with two of her friends this year. Outside of radio, Jenna likes to play club and high school soccer. You can listen to their show Anything and Everything every Tuesday's at 4.

Will Watson is a junior at Mercer Island High School. It is his 2nd year on the staff at 88.9 and is excited to learn more about how the radio works at KMIH. Outside of radio, Will likes to play golf, ski, and hang out with friends. You can listen to his show, the Ajay, Will and Noah Showon Thursday nights at 6.

Ethan Evans is a senior here at Mercer Island School. It is his second year in radio, and he is excited to broadcast sports games, and produce sports talk shows with friends. Outside of radio, Ethan plays on the golf team, and also enjoys playing tennis and basketball as hobbies. As you can tell, Ethan is a big sports guy. His show "Live From the Bunker" will be returning to the air soon on Wednesday afternoons, so make sure to tune in if you love golf!

Caitlin Monahan is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School. It’s her second year in the radio program and she is excited to create a radio show with two friends called Speaking of. Outside of radio, Caitlin enjoys playing high school basketball and soccer. You can listen to her show every Tuesday at 4:00 pm.

Olivia Pangallo is a senior at Mercer Island High School. It is her second year in the radio program and she is excited to continue her show rating movies. Outside of radio, Olivia likes to play golf and dance.

Theo Richardson is a senior at Mercer Island High School. This is his third year year in the radio program, having started in sophomore year. Outside of school, Theo enjoys listening to rock records, playing the guitar, and watching the UFC. Listen to him talk every week on Thursdays at 9:00pm with his co-hosts Everett and Will.

Nicholas Mautone is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School. It is his second year in the radio program and he is excited to show what he has learned so far! Outside of radio, Nicholas loves to play basketball for the high school. He is excited to announce that his show about soccer with Luca Galvin will be starting soon!

Sophie Hill is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School. It is her 2nd year in the radio program and she is excited to experiment in the live studio. Outside of radio, Sophie likes to play volleyball and volunteer. You can listen to her show “Rice and Shine” every Sunday at 9am.

Noah Perlman is a junior at Mercer Island High School. It is his 3rd year in the radio program and he is excited to be back doing his sports talk show. Outside of radio, Noah likes to play tennis for the varsity team at Mercer Island. You can listen to his show from 6-7pm every Thursday.

Shay Adleberg is a junior at Mercer Island High School it is his third year in the radio program. Outside of radio Shay plays waterpolo and watches the NBA and NFL. He hosts a show called Shays Sports Stories where he discusses the most interesting moments and people in all of sports.

Harry is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School. It is his 2nd year in the radio program and he is very excited to be back and doing his show Marvel Talk. His show does not have a specific day and time that it will be aired. Outside of radio, Harry loves to play soccer and be outside and hangout with his friends. Harry is very excited to be a part of the KMIH The Bridge team again and can’t wait to be heard on the radio.

Intro Students

Greta Weeks is a freshman at Mercer Island High School. It is her first year in the radio program and she is excited to learn how to make sports podcasts and go on air this year. Outside of radio Greta likes to do cross country , hang out with friends on weekends and bake in her free time.

Jessica Lohnas is a freshman at Mercer Island High School. It is her first year in the radio program and she is excited to learn all about radio this year. Outside radio Jessica enjoys reading, seeing friends, playing golf, and listening to music.

Tewodros Sanchez-Alemu (Teddy) is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School. It is his first year in the radio program and he is excited about what he wants to learn this year. Outside of radio, Teddy likes to travel and explore the Seattle area.

Luca Cero is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School and is new to the program at KMIH 88.9 the Bridge. He loves to talk about sports, and argue with other people about them! This year for his podcast, Cero’s Cycling Corner, Luca will be focusing my podcast on cycling, but will also dabble into Football, Basketball, and small bits of other sports.

Aidan Hart is a junior at Mercer Island High School. It is his first year in the radio program and is excited to have a show and learn about radio. He enjoys music, animals, spending time with friends and playing the drums.

Joe Shleifer is a freshman at Mercer island high school. It is his first year in the radio program and he is excited to learn how a radio station operates. Outside of radio Joe likes to sports like football, mountain biking, and skiing.

Anna Carson is a freshman at Mercer Island High School. It’s her first year in radio and she is excited to learn about sports broadcasting. Outside of radio she likes skiing, hiking, swimming and playing soccer.

Julia Sommerfield is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School. It is her first year in the radio program and she is incredibly excited about what she gets to, and wants to learn this year. Outside of radio, Julia spends most of her time in the pool, either swimming or playing water polo. Though she doesn’t currently have any shows, she hopes to start production on them shortly.

Samantha Schwarz is a freshman this year at Mercer Island High School and she is excited to see what Radio’s all about and how it works. Some things she does are soccer, marching band, and she also drives a race car called a legend.

Mason Williams is a senior at Mercer island high school. He's a very handsome chap as well as very polite and dignified. Ryan is a part of the staff at KMIH. He is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School. He enjoys watching movies and reading about history. He voice tracks and does positioners.

Sophia Loiselle is a freshman and MIHS. This is her first year in the radio program and is exited to go on air and learn more about how to put together a podcast. Outside of radio, Sophia plays lacrosse and tennis.

Maya Eldridge Baker is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School. It is her first year in the radio program and she is excited to create shows and be on the radio. Outside of radio, Maya, enjoys playing tennis, being with friends and being outside.

Lillia Jester is a senior at Mercer Island High School. It is her first year in the radio program and she is excited to make her voice heard by her community through this class. Outside of radio, she enjoys spending time with her friends, cooking, and playing with her dogs

Yasmine Mohamed is a senior at Mercer Island High School. It’s not only her first year in the radio program, but at Mercer Island as well. This year she’s excited to learn about editing and recording audio so she can apply this knowledge to video editing and film recording. Outside of radio, she enjoys playing video games and sports.

Nathan Deal is a freshman at Mercer island high school. It is his first year in the radio program and he is very excited to learn more about the program and finally get on the air. Outside of radio, Nathan likes to play sports such as basketball and football.

Hadley Holtzclaw is a freshman at Mercer Island High school. She is excited to contribute to the station and create some great content. She loves playing volleyball and tennis. She also loves Taylor Swift, so be ready for some Taylor music!

Angelina Durkee is a senior at Mercer Island High School. It is her first year in the radio program and she is excited to have a live show with her friends and learn more about broadcasting this year. Outside of radio, Angelina is an artist and also plays ultimate frisbee at MIHS.

Chase Shavey is currently a senior at MIHS and in his first year of radio at KMIH. He plays football and runs track at MIHS. Outside of school and sports, Chase likes to watch formula 1, do anagrams and spend time with friends and family. Chase is interested in doing sports talk and broadcasting.

Jack Richter is a freshman at Mercer Island High School and it is his first year in the radio program and is excited to learn this year. He loves outdoor activities including sport, skiing, and biking

Teresa Hernandez is a senior at Mercer Island High School. It is her 1st year in the radio program and she is excited to interview people this year. Ian McDonald is a senior at Mercer Island High School. It is his first year in the radio program and he is excited to be on the radio and program music. Outside of radio, Ian likes karate and traveling.

Halen Otte is a senior with the class of 2022, he is still undecided where he wants to go to college but will probably go into business, law or finance. He is very active in his community as he works at the local Boys and Girls Club, he plays baseball, golf, and is an avid skier. In his free time he likes to go fishing, hunting, hangout with friends, workout, and watch movies.

Alexis Weaver is a junior at Mercer Island High School. It is her first year in the radio program and she is excited to learn to make a podcast this year. Outside of radio, Alexis likes to watch adult animation and play with her cat named Banana.

Ellesse Kropp is a senior at Mercer Island High School. It is her first year on the radio. Outside of school she enjoys hanging out with her cat and shopping!

Connor Leung is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School and it is his first year in radio. He is excited to learn the radio process and how stories/shows get on the air. Outside of radio, Connor enjoys playing video games and is actually on the Varsity tennis team.

Sebastian Gonzalez is a freshman at MIHS. As of the start of the 2021 school year his favorite class is Radio Broadcasting, despite it being his first year in the class. He looks forward to learning how certain things are played on the radio and why. Outside of radio he enjoys playing basketball and lacrosse. When he plays basketball he plays small forward/power forward. His lacrosse position is defense, so he plays with a long stick.

Benjamin Kriger is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School. It is his first year in the radio program and he is excited to learn how a radio station works, and talk some sports! Outside of radio, Benjamin likes to play and watch football, basketball, and hang out with friends.

Gian Manhas is a freshman at Mercer Island High School. It is his first year in the radio station in the radio program and is excited to see the behind the scenes and everything that goes with a radio station. Outside of radio, Gian likes to play sports, such as basketball and tennis. Some of his other hobbies are video games, and skateboarding.

James Peterson is a senior at mercer island high school. It is his 1st year in the radio program and he is excited about experiencing the inner workings of a radio station and learning how to produce good quality radio. Outside of radio, James is a big car enthusiast and loves to ski and spend time with his friends and family.

Kate Lenington is a freshman at Mercer Island High School. It is her 1st year in the radio program and she is excited to learn about the business of radio and learn about making a radio show. Outside of radio, Kate is on the high school swim team and enjoys reading and baking.

Julian Peters is a freshman at Mercer Island High School. It’s his first year in the radio program and hi’s very excited to be able to get on the air and hopefully talk about sports with some of my fellow classmates. Outside of radio, I play soccer for the high school and for a club team, I also love to ski in the winter!

Javier Fernandez-Budiman is a sophomore at Mercer Island High school he is exited to do awesome podcasts. Javier likes to swim, travel, eat, and spend time with his friends.

Elan Gotel is a freshman at Mercer island high school. It is his first year in the radio program and is excited to learn more about it and do sports radio shows. Outside of school he likes to play sports, including football and basketball, football being his favorite.

Sasha Reule is a freshman at Mercer Island High School. It is her first year in the radio program and she is excited to learn more about how radio works. Outside of radio she has her Black Belt in karate, she likes to play volleyball, bike, hike and hang out with her friends.

Afton Fosseen is a sophomore at Mercer Island high school. It is her first year in the radio program and she is excited to learn about how radio stations are kept running. She is hoping to commentate a volleyball game this season and outside of radio, she likes to paint and listen to music.

Mackenzie Monen is a junior at Mercer Island High School, and this is her first year in the radio program. She is excited to utilize her imagination when creating content for 88.9 The Bridge! Outside of radio, Mackenzie enjoys running and was selected to be one of the MIHS track and field team captains.

Charlie Crump is a freshman at Mercer Island High School. It is his first year in the radio program and he is excited to learn about programming the radio and learning how to edit it. Outside of radio he likes to play water polo and video games.

Chloe Yang is a freshman at Mercer Island High School. It is her first year in the radio program and she is excited to learn more about how the station is run. Chloe enjoys playing sports and spend time with family.

Noah Lessard is a senior at Mercer Island High School. It is his first year in the radio program and he is excited to learn more about how 88.9 is run and he is ready to contribute his own voice to the program. Outside of radio, Noah is often rowing, sailing, or swimming in Lake Washington. He also enjoys playing games with friends, gardening and writing.

Julia is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School. It is her first year in the radio program and she is incredibly excited about what she gets to, and wants to learn this year. Outside of radio, Julia spends most of her time in the pool, either swimming or playing water polo. Though she doesn’t currently have any shows, she hopes to start production on them shortly.
