Intro to Radio introduces students to the broadcast industry with a focus on hands-on training for a variety of jobs related to media. Students learn the basics of audio production, on-air delivery, interviewing, podcasting, marketing and the daily operations of a REAL radio station. The world of media is changing rapidly in exciting ways and as it evolves, so will 88.9 The Bridge.

KMIH-FM is a 30 Watt radio station licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Because students are involved with a fully-operational radio station, they are held to a high standard of excellence and professionalism. Every student is expected to be engaged, responsible and an asset to the team. In return, they gain valuable skills and experience as a communicator, a collaborator and member of a team.

Staff bios

Henry loves seeing his ideas come to life through art. For this 9th grader, the most exciting part of broadcasting is learning how to bring various audio sources together to create something new to share with listeners. If you catch this Cali born hard rock fan on-air and detect a bit of a British accent, you’re not imagining it!

As a sophomore, Ava has officially joined the airwaves this year and is eager to unlock all the opportunities that the station can offer. She has already enjoyed recording in the studio and editing, and she is already counting down the days until she can record live. In her free time, she enjoys running with the school's cross-country team and hanging out with her brother.

Vivaan joined radio this year as a freshman and can’t wait to help out on the Bridge. He’s looking forward to editing and recording things in the studio. When he’s not at school, he loves playing soccer and hanging out with friends and playing with his two dogs at home.

Franco is new to radio. He is a freshman at MIHS and is excited to be in radio because of the community, fun collaboration, and more. Things he likes to do outside of school are playing basketball and soccer.

Milana joined Radio this year as a sophomore, she is excited to speak live and share music. In her free time, she does competitive cheer and enjoys hanging out with her friends and sister.

Evan joined radio this year as a Freshman and can't wait to discover all of the perks that come with being part of the radio class. He already loves to have fun recording and editing with his friends in class. Outside of school, he likes playing lacrosse with his best friends.

Saina is thrilled to be in radio as a freshman. She enjoys editing and learning new skills in the studio. She also plays volleyball and loves spending time with her sister and friends.

Ella joined radio this year as a freshman and has loved recording in the studio and editing in the station. She is so excited to learn more about the Bridge and get better at creating content for the Bridge. Outside of school Ella enjoys rowing, skiing, and relaxing at home with her family.

Nova is currently a 10th grade student at Mercer Island. She joined radio this year and in her free time likes to hang out with friends and listen to music.

Natalie can not wait to be a part of the KMIH radio team. She is a freshman at MIHS and loves to hangout with friends, bake desserts, and practice cheerleading. Natalie looking forward to making podcasts and recording in the studio.

Kitturah is a senior at MIHS and aims to improve their sound production skills through the radio class. They enjoy writing in their free time, and when they aren't creating something of their own, they can be found editing somebody else's work. They are not actually supervillains, but their persona on air says otherwise.

Lyn is an aspiring freshman in radio this year who is excited to be sharing her love of music. She not only loves hanging out with her friends but also loves recording in the studio with her classmates. When she's not at school she enjoys spending time with her cats and going on long walks.

Abhay is an islander in Mercer Island High School in the 10th grade and has aspirations to learn and understand the radio and podcast industry. He plays soccer and Ultimate Frisbee for the school and a club. He is excited to have a long run in the playoffs and contribute to the team’s Spirit.

Emma is a freshman at MIHS. She is excited to contribute music to the station and learn new editing skills. Emma also likes playing soccer, hanging out with friends, and baking in her free time.

Bella is a sophomore at MIHS who is looking forward to getting on the air and seeing everything radio has to offer. This year, she hopes to create her own podcast with friends and have fun trying new things at the station. Outside of radio, Bella loves playing basketball, hanging out with her friends, and being social.

Dillon is a 14 year old Freshman student and is super excited to start recording audio on the Bridge! Outside of school, he likes to run, do art and write stories in his free time. He is always looking forward to opening up to new experiences creating content and can’t wait to be heard on the radio!

Micah is a 10th grader who loves to play football in his free time. Although Micah is from Florida he thinks Washington is home at heart.

Landon is a 9th grader at MIHS and is new to radio. He hopes to have fun and create good work. He mountain bikes, plays basketball, and runs track.

Chloe is a freshman and is super excited to be able to see the behind the scenes of radio like recording in the studios. I’m a cheerleader on the MIHS cheer team, and my favorite food is ice cream.

Nora joined the radio station this year as a freshman. She is so excited to share her favorite songs and ideas on air and learn new editing skills! She loves running cross country on the high school team and playing tennis with friends!

Maeve joined radio this year as a freshman and is excited to see what makes up a good radio show and to see all the amazing opportunities it brings. She is especially excited to connect to her community on air and share her music. After school she enjoys hanging out with friends and exploring Seattle.

Khloe is the goat of MIHS. She's in 11th grade and wants to create a positive experience for others in Radio. Khloe enjoys running track in her free time.

Willie is a Freshman at MIHS and is new to radio broadcasting. He is excited about podcasting and interviewing people over the air. He doesn't like mayonnaise and frequently scores 25,000 on the GeoGuessr daily.

Trent is absolutely thrilled to learn all about the station, recording in studios, and how it all works. As a sophomore, he can’t wait to start learning about what he enjoys most about radio, whether it's recording, editing, or even producing. He loves exploring nature, hanging out with friends, and playing sports.

Anja is a Freshman at MIHS who just joined the radio program! She is excited to learn all about how to make radio shows, and the editing that goes into it! Outside of school, she loves to be in the kitchen and is always experimenting with new recipes!

Hunter is in radio as a freshman in the class of 2030, she can't wait for the opportunities this will give her to reach out and put her voice out there into the community. Hunter is especially excited to work on improving her public speaking skills and work behind the scenes of KMIH in the future. In her free time, she likes to play volleyball and hang out with friends.

Kaley is a freshman at MIHS. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and playing lacrosse.

Tatum joined Radio this year as a freshman, she is especially interested in doing podcasts with friends. In her free time she spends time rowing on Lake Union. Tatum has two older brothers and spends most summers in Maine with family.

Kanav on KMIH Mercer Island is a ninth grader who plans to play basketball and soccer. He hopes that he can create his own podcast. Anyways, he’s excited for an amazing year of radio!

Karthik joined radio this year as a freshman and can’t wait to explore all the opportunities the station and this class offer. He’s very interested in learning how to make a podcast and recording fun stuff in the studios. He’s also on the cross-country team and in the philharmonic orchestra. In his free time, he likes writing, relaxing, and spending time with his friends and family. He also enjoys going to school and loves getting good grades too.

Emerson is super excited to make a podcast this year. She is in 9th grade at MIHS She hopes to learn more about radio stations and how everything works. Her favorite place to visit is Hawaii and she loves sharks.

Paul started his radio journey as a freshman and he can’t wait to get his ideas shared to the world. He’s a big sports fan and hopes to broadcast some Mercer Island sports games in the future. This year he hopes to learn how to edit better and hope to air some cool podcasts.

Charlotte is a sophomore who recently joined The Bridge. She's very excited to be a part of the radio community and put her own creative audio on air. Outside of school, Charlotte plays soccer and spends time with Bean, her Bernedoodle.

Isabella joined the radio station this year as a freshman, she’s really excited to work with classmates and work with amazing staff members. She can’t wait to explore audio editing and make a great radio show. In her free time, she likes to dance and listen to music.

Mackenzie is a freshman at MIHS. One of her hopes in radio is to make a really good podcast with her friends. Mackenzie likes to play lacrosse and cook new food.

Bina joined Radio and Podcasting this year as a freshman. She is excited to learn how to edit and produce podcasts. Outside of school she likes to play guitar and plays soccer for the Mercer Island girls soccer team.

Lena is currently a 9th grader, and it's her first year on radio. She's super thrilled to be on the air and is hoping to be able to share music and stories with listeners. In her free time, she enjoys being with her friends and going for hikes.

Lois is thrilled to start her journey with The Bridge. As a 9th grader, she's looking forward to exploring all the different aspects that create radio and working behind the mic. She is passionate about playing lacrosse and loves listening to music. She also loves to hang out with her friends and used to live in California for 12 years.

Liam has officially joined radio this year as a freshman and can't wait to learn and explore all the cool things that radio has to offer. He is especially interested in how popular our radio station is in Washington. In his free time, he likes to hang out with friends and play lacrosse.

Jett is a Freshman who is joining Radio for the first time in his life. Jett loves to hang out with friends and practice sports including baseball, football, and ping-pong. Jett looks forward to possibly creating a podcast with friends.

Alexandra a junior at MIHS, driven by a deep love for curation and the thrill of capturing the perfect sound. She thrives during recording sessions, and mixing new music tracks alongside her twin sister. When she isn’t syncing harmonies or hunting for good music, she spends her time hanging out with family, and playing soccer. Her ultimate goal is to make the best podcast episodes for viewers.

Ava joined radio this year as a Sophomore and is so excited to record in the studios. She already enjoys being behind the scenes in film and acting, and she can’t wait to learn about radio! When she’s not at school, she enjoys playing tennis and going shopping with her friends.

Asher is a 9th grader and is very excited about this coming year in radio. He is looking forward to using the editing software and editing audio files. A fun fact is that he loves to surf.

Lulu is a new radio student who is excited to work on podcasts and editing. She is a freshman who loves music, playing waterpolo and lacrosse, and hanging out with her friends.

Clara joined radio this year as a freshman and is so excited for everything that this year will bring. She already enjoys recording in the studio and editing in Adobe. In her free time, she likes to row and swim.

Shiyun joined radio this year as a freshman because she is excited to start her own podcast, and grow more confident speaking in front of others. She enjoys being able to talk about something she loves, and share it with others who are listening on the air waves. Outside of school, she plays the piano and paints, as well as spending a considerable amount of time cooing over her dog.

Cecilia is a freshman this year at MIHS and plays soccer on the MIHS girls soccer team. This year in radio, she is excited to learn about editing and broadcasting. She enjoys traveling and listening to music.

Jeneva is a sophomore at MIHS. She is excited to join radio this year and is ready to learn how to edit and record her interests. Outside of the studio, she loves volleyball and animals. She is ready to bring her good vibe to the airwaves and hopes to host her very own broadcast in the near future.

Isabella loves to listen to podcasts, which is why she wanted to join radio this year! She is excited to get in the studio to record and share stories with the community. In her free time, Isabella loves to bake and cook, read books, and draw.

Ash is excited to be starting his journey with The Bridge. As a freshman, he is looking forward to trying out editing podcast lines and working behind the mic with a partner. When he's not at school Ash loves playing lacrosse and messing around with his friends.

Luke is new to radio this year and is excited to start his journey with KMIH. He enjoys recording and supporting the team however he can. He often spends hours a day listening to news and stories of what is happening in the world.

Leo is a 9th grade freshman who is passionate about sports, especially Lacrosse. He plans to goalkeep the JV Mercer Island lacrosse team. He joined Radio specifically to create a sports podcast with his long-time friends Ash and Daine. Leo has recently become an Oregon Duck fan in support of his older brother’s commitment to Oregon. His long-term goal is to be employed in sports broadcasting.

Ella is thrilled to be starting her journey with The Bridge. As a 9th grader, she’s looking forward to trying out audio editing and working behind the mic in the future. When she’s not at school, she loves baking and playing with her cat and her dog.

Abbie is new to KMIH as a freshman and is really excited to host a podcast and learn about sports broadcasting. In her free time, she loves to read, play sports, and watch sports. She also enjoys listening to good interviews and sharing fun facts and information with others.

Lyla joined radio this year as a freshman and is excited to share music and get more practice with editing. While she's not at school, she loves spending time with her friends and coaching a little league soccer on Mercer Island. She's hoping to hear new music she enjoys, as she spends most of her day with music playing.

Daine joined radio this year as a freshman and can’t wait to explore all the opportunities the radio station offers. He already enjoys recording in the studio and editing his legal ID project. In his free time, he likes playing hockey, lacrosse, and hanging with his boys.

Jimmy is in 9th Grade and is excited to join the Bridge this year! He is hoping to take his podcasting career forward through KMIH 889 The Bridge. He loves playing midfield in lacrosse and loves to watch sitcoms in his free time.

Meredith decided to join KMIH as a sophomore and is super excited to start creating. She already loves listening to the station and music in general in her free time, so this class should be the perfect fit. In her free time, she loves playing soccer, baking, and hanging out with family and friends.

Miles is new to the radio scene and he’s just joined the KMIH program this year as a freshman. He’s most excited to interview others and to have a voice on The Bridge. Outside of radio, he likes to play tennis, hang out with friends, and travel with his family. Miles has no pets right now, but in the future he really wants a dog.

Suhavi is a sophomore at MIHS who wants to get better at editing and become more confident with working with audio in radio this year. Erin is a freshman at MIHS this year and is eager to produce more that people will be able to hear whenever they listen to KMIH The Bridge. So far, she already loves being in the studio recording with friends and editing. Outside of school, she is a competitive dancer and loves spending time with her friends, her dog, and going to the mall.

Evi is new to KMIH The Bridge. Evi's in 9th grade, and she got inspired to join radio from her older brother, who loved it. Out of school, Evi likes to play lacrosse, travel, and go to concerts. A goal she has this year is to record a podcast.

Flynn is overly excited to join radio this year. He has been having so much fun in the short time he has been doing radio and can't wait for the future with this class. Flynn is a big sports guy as he plays lacrosse and football, and he can't wait to potentially broadcast for any games coming up this year.

Mason is a 9th grader who just joined radio and can’t wait to start recording. He wants to make a football podcast with his friends. Outside of radio, Mason plays football, and it will be his 7th year playing now.

Zach is a 10th grader at MIHS who joined Radio and Podcasting to learn production and get better at editing. He loves Pop music and sports talk on the air. Outside of radio, he plays soccer and brings that same competitive energy into the studio.

Arya is a freshman at MIHS and joined radio this year! She particularly looks forward to potentially starting a new podcast. Outside of radio, she is an avid reader and enjoys going on walks with her family. Also, I love to travel and recently went to Montserrat, Spain!
