Meet The KMIH Staff!
OUR ADVISORS
Joe Bryant – General Manager. Joe is the Broadcast Media Instructor at Mercer Island High and the General Manager of KMIH- 889 The Bridge. Joe worked at KISW, KZOK, and KJR co-hosting the popular Bob Rivers Show, which aired in Seattle for 25 years. He started teaching at Mercer Island High in 2015, Bryant says he has the best job in the world and loves sharing his knowledge of the entertainment and media industry with the next generation of great broadcasters.
Jon Kasprick – Chief Engineer. Building the Bridge is an ongoing project and Jon is the person in charge of planning improvements and keeping us on the air. He is also the Chief Engineer at KGRG and an Instructor at Green River College.
Natalie Woods - Community Outreach Coordinator. Natalie brings nearly 20 years of broadcast journalism experience to KMIH. She has worked as a news reporter and producer in television and radio stations throughout the U.S., in Russia and the United Arab Emirates. Natalie is able to use her broadcasting expertise, along with her involvement in the schools and youth organizations on Mercer Island, to develop student broadcasters and enhance the station’s presence in the community.
Shannon Tapp - ABRO Advisor. Shannon is one of the Business and Marketing teachers at MIHS. She is also the DECA Advisor for the school. She is ready to bring her years of experience in marketing to the station.

Andrew Howison,
Director of Operations
Andrew is now a senior at Mercer Island High School. This is his fourth and final year in the program. He is so excited to lead the Station with Sophie and complete the ideas and goals they’ve had since Freshman year. Andrew will continue as Executive Producer for Breakfast On the Bridge. He will also take over as host for Principal Kelly’s Corner. Outside of the program, Andrew loves long walks on the beach with his dog, Taz.

Sophie Prock will be entering her final year at KMIH 88.9 The Bridge. Since her Freshman year of high school, 88.9 has given her a home. She can’t wait to see what she and Andrew accomplish as leaders this year, and is excited to mentor the incoming students to 88.9 as Director of Staff. Outside of radio, Sophie enjoys playing volleyball and spending time with those close to her.
Annabelle Hegarty, Program Director
Annabelle is entering her third year at KMIH. Her favorite things about radio are broadcasting sports and recording her show, The First Period Crew. She also loves playing basketball, reading, walking her dog, and spending time with her friends and family.
Miles Avilez, news director
Miles Avilez is a Senior at Mercer Island High School, and it is his third year in the radio program. As News Director, Miles is responsible for training the KMIH Staff to create quality newscasts. Miles puts an emphasis on going out into the community to capture the voices of community members and hear their perspectives on the relevant issues of the day. Outside of radio, Miles is looking forward to having fun cross country and track seasons, taking new classes in school, and spending time with friends.
Sophia Azzano, Sports director
Sophia Azzano is a senior at Mercer Island High School and is the Sports Director for KMIH. She spends plenty of time around all sorts of sporting events ranging from broadcasting them from the press box, going to Seattle Sounders games, and even broadcasting eSports. You can listen to her live on morning shows and sports broadcasts. The only sport you won’t hear her broadcasting is Football because she is in the stands with Mercer Island High’s Marching Band. Find her morning show, The Weekly Wrap featuring three other seniors on Spotify, or listen to it live on Friday mornings.
Ellie Sadlier, music director
Ellie is a Junior at MIHS! This is her third year in the radio program and she is excited to program music and research different musicians! Outside of radio, Ellie loves to read, go to concerts, learn about the music industry and play with her dogs. Ellie hosts a music show called Broken Record every Tuesday at 6pm!
Sophie Cartwright, website director
This year, Sophie is upholding the position of web development director on KMIH’ She’s excited to work on the website and bring new ideas on improving the station. Should you find Sophie outside of school, she may be yo-yoing or shredding on the guitar, perhaps even recording Six of Spades which airs Saturdays at 10 AM.
Jenna Martin, production director
Jenna Martin is a junior at Mercer Island High School. It is her third year in the radio program and she is excited to continue creating great promos and hosting the morning show Breakfast on the Bridge. Outside of radio, Jenna likes to play club and high school soccer. You can also listen to Jenna’s newscasts on Breakfast on the Bridge.
Sidh Shroff, growth & development director
Sidh Shroff is a junior at Mercer Island High School and is a passionate singer, tennis player, and songwriter. This year, he is super excited to continue growing the radio station and broadcasting live at any chance he gets!
THEODORE FREEMAN, ENGINEERING DIRECTOR
Theodore Freeman is a senior at Mercer Island High School. This year, his hard work of sitting down in the live room for hours on end has finally paid off, and now he’s the Engineering Director! (Not to be confused with Jon, who is the Chief Engineer). As Engineering Director, he is responsible for maintaining the equipment during daily operations, educating the staff on how to use the equipment, and to ensure that nothing goes wrong that is related to the technology. If you don’t see him with the station, chances are that he is adventuring across the region by public transportation. Why? To be honest, he doesn’t really know either! However, if you do run into him, be sure to never start a conversation about Pokémon, urbanism, music, trivia, or any combination of the four. He. Will never. SHUT UP.
