What was The Biggest struggle making this?

100% making it shorter. I had 10 minutes of audio and to make it only 5 minutes, I had to cut out entire paragraphs I had written as apart of my script.

Hi I’m Sophie Cartwright and this is my podcast Contemplating Comparison. The goal of this piece was to offer a new perspective on how we compare ourselves to other people, especially in high school where it is most prevalent. I have always loved to involve people from my school in the pieces I make, and I applied that in this work with he overlapping voices of peers saying real comparisons people had submitted to me days before.

What was your inspiration for this piece?

I have always been intrigued with news ways to engage people in in media as a whole. I was actually inspired to do the overlapping voices effect from an Almond Joy commercial I saw, where a businessman had all these overlapping office noises around him, and they all disappeared when he bit into a chocolate bar.

I think next I want to create a piece that uses special audio effects as I get better at using new editing platforms.
