Hi, I’m Sophia Loiselle and this is my podcast, My View On Myopia. Myopia is nearsightedness, or the inability to see things far away. Everyone in my family is myopic, and my dad is also blind in one eye. In my podcast, I tell my Dad’s story, and use information from ophthalmologist Dr. Sea to discuss the new contact lens technologies that can slow myopia and prevent blindness.

What was your inspiration for this piece? And, or, what made you want to create it?

I’m really grateful that I’m able to wear the type of contact lenses that preserve my vision, but they’re often very expensive and inaccessible to kids that need them. I created this piece to build awareness about these life changing contact lenses, and I hope that eventually they can be available to everyone they can help. 

What was the most rewarding part about the finished product, and or creating this?

Making this podcast gave me a chance to talk about how powerful the contact lenses that I wear  are, as well as bring awareness to the topic.
