Hi Iām Sam Paddor. My podcast is a 5 minute look into Woodstock. I interviewed three musicians who played at Woodstock: Arlo Guthrie, Jorma Kaukonen of Jefferson Airplane and Fito de la Parra of Canned Heat. These three musicians witnessed and performed in something incredible, and that needs to be remembered. I have interviewed many rock and roll musicians from decades ago, and many have interesting stories. The ones that captured me the most however, were the ones about the festival of Woodstock. Woodstock was an incredible moment in musical history, and getting the opportunity to interview three performers from the festival, each having unique and interesting stories made it a no-brainer to compile them together into a short podcast.
How did you record this piece?
One of the best and worst parts of the COVID pandemic was the introduction of Zoom to everybody's lives. It was definitely hard when it came to online school, but it has made talking to people from all over the world so much easier. I interviewed all three of my guests on Zoom, and then mashed them all into one story afterwards.
What Was the hardest part Making this piece?
The hardest part for me in making this podcast was how quickly I put it all together. I had previously planned on making a different podcast that I had nearly completed, and then I interviewed Fito de la Parra of Canned Heat. His stories from Woodstock turned on a lightbulb in my head, causing me to start formulating this podcast less than a week before the deadline.
