HI! I am Paige and this year is my third and final year at 88.9. Last year radio led me to meet a lot of new people and explore many new topics that I wasn't yet familiar with. Meeting these people led to a new interest in the care system and social justice, which then led me having the opportunity to interview Art Longworth, an ex-prisoner who was convicted of murder at 19.

What Was the Biggest challenge Making This Piece?

After recording this, I felt like I had to do Art and his history justice. I felt so honored to be able to interview him and didn't want to do a bad job in presenting his story. I wanted it to be more than just a project done for radio, but rather a podcast that helped convey Art's entire story.

Inspiration for the piece

My inspiration for the piece was a friend that I had in middle school who was in the foster care system. She ended up leaving school in 7th grade, but we have continued to keep in touch and she made me change all my views on how I treat people, as well as the power of kindness. she is now the reason I want to go into social work to help aid foster youth.
