889 THE BRIDGE STAFF
Joe Bryant – General Manager Joe is the Broadcast Media Instructor at Mercer Island High the General Manager of KMIH- 889 The Bridge. Joe worked at KISW, KZOK and KJR co-hosting the popular Bob Rivers Show, which aired in Seattle for 25 years.
Jon Kasprick – Chief Engineer Building the Bridge is an ongoing project and the person in charge of planning improvements and keeping us on the air is Jon. He is also the Chief Engineer at KGRG and an Instructor at Green River College.
Warren Van Patten – Resident DJ Warren, aka DJ D’Lemma is the Bridge Mixes Programmer and a Mercer Island High School grad. To be considered for a Mix DJ slot on The Bridge he is the guy to talk to!
Emily- Program Director Emily is the host of the top rated Everybody Loves Emily Show, Wednesday at 6 PM. Her show is pack full of exciting games and pop culture topics. The Bridge’s music spans generations and Emily is the voice of NOW!
“Little” Emily– Operations Manager Emily is a sophomore and Operations Manager of 88.9 the bridge. She loves to read, listen to music, go running, and hang out with friends! You’ll hear her often on the lunchroom or on air with friends!
Zoe – Director of Digital Content Zoe is the person responsible for bringing The Bridge to life on the web and on your phone! When she is not writing code you will find her playing flute in the Seattle Youth Symphony.
Max – Max has been a part of the station for three years now and won the national radio award for the best sports interview in 2017. He has interviewed Mariners broadcaster Aaron Goldsmith and other professional players in the past. Currently, Max is the station’s Sport Director and his show is the Mariners Max Show on Fridays from 4 to 6 pm.
Jaeden – Jaeden is the anchor of the Mercer Island High School Hoops Broadcasting Team and the MIHS football team. In his free time, he likes to stay active and exercise, and hangout in the radio station.
Cole– Cole is the Spirit Facilitator at 88.9 The Bridge. He has been in the radio class at Mercer Island High School, following his brother Sam’s footsteps. He enjoys long walks on the beach and broadcasting the Islander’s basketball games.
Parker – This is Parker’s fourth and final year of radio at the high school. Parker also plays baseball for Mercer Island. You can hear his show, 4 Guys 2 mics, on Mondays from 4 to 6.
Andrew – Andrew is a senior at Mercer Island High School and has been enjoying the experience ever since freshman year. At the station, Andrew runs the 4 guys 2 mics report with Cole, Jaeden, and Parker, and also co-hosts A squared with Adara. In his free time, Andrew enjoys exploring the wilderness, traveling, and hanging out with friends.
Luka– Luka is the News Director at KMIH, his job is to keep you up to date on all of today’s events. In his free time, he plays tennis and hangs out with his friends.
Adara – Adara is a senior at Mercer Island High School and her show is on Tuesdays from 6 to 8 with Andrew. Their show is called A-squared and always includes fun trivia games that the listeners can tune into an play along with them. Outside of radio, Adara is a very competitive volleyball player and is on the Mercer Island High School Varsity volleyball team!
Ryan– Ryan is a junior at Mercer Island High School, this is his second year in radio. He appears on the Mariner Max show but occasionally on other shows as well. In his free time he plays basketball, watches baseball, and enjoys listening to the radio.
Maya– Maya is a sophomore at Mercer Island High school. She currently works behind the scenes at the station, but if you’re lucky sometimes you can catch her on air. She is the promotions director, and is always helping around where needed. She loves her role at the station, enjoys talking, and getting assignments done.
Truman – Truman is a senior at Mercer Island High School and a returning broadcaster. He has the show The Hattrick, where he discusses the two local major junior hockey teams- The Seattle Thunderbirds and Everett Silvertips. He also enjoys hanging out with friends and watching TV.
Dan– Dan is a junior at Mercer Island High School and is the voice behind the Dan in the Morning show. He loves listening to music on the radio and different artists and albums.
Natalie – Natalie is the Associate Head News director at KMIH. You can hear her show On the Road with Alli and Natalie, Fridays from 6 to 8.
Ana – Ana is a junior at Mercer Island High School, and has been in the radio class since sophomore year. She helps with keeping the website updated and organizing things. In her free time, she likes to practice gymnastics and go on hikes.
Refael -Refael just joined the KMIH Staff. He is currently a junior in high school and his hobbies include playing football and playing video games.
Talia – Talia is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School. She loves listening to music ad spending time with her friends! You can catch her on E & T, Wednesdays from 6 to 8.
Blake – Blake is a senior at Mercer Island High School and a returning KMIH broadcaster. Blake is the social media manager and operates the 889 The Bridge website, Twitter, and Facebook page. He also has a profound interest in cars and photography.
Garrett – Garrett is a senior at Mercer Island High School. He is on the baseball team, and his hobbies include hunting, fishing, and watching football.
Alex – Alex is a senior at Mercer Island High School and has been with KMIH since 2014. He is the new co-host of the award winning late shift wit Riley every Friday night, and the co-host of the Thursday KMIH sports report. You can also catch him on the Mercer Island basketball broadcasts this winter.
Jonathan – Some call him Johnathan James, but most call him JJ. The part he enjoys most about doing radio is being able to reach out to a large audience with friends and talking about the things you love. He plans on doing a show this year based on sports with some of his good friends, including Giovanni and Rafael. You can also catch him on some of The Lunchroom sessions with Joe Bryant!
Giovanni – Giovanni is a senior at Mercer Island High School. He plays varsity boys basketball and varsity boys football at the high school. He is also on Friday nights with Johnathan James.
Alli – Alli is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School and enjoys playing sports in her free time with her friends. You can hear her on Fridays from 6 to 8 on her show “On the Road with Alli and Natalie”.
Will – Will is a junior at Mercer Island High School. He plays varsity boys football and varsity boys baseball at the high school. he is also in the Sand Trap with Carson on Thursday nights and they are the only people that can make golf interesting on the radio! He would also like to remind you to tune into the Friday night football broadcasts for the Mercer Island Islanders.
Carson – Carson is a senior at Mercer Island High School, and this is his third year as a radio student. He had been playing baseball all his life, and is an avid sports fan. You can hear his show, Lights Out, on Tuesdays from 10 to midnight and on Thursdays from 6 to 8 PM on the Sand Trap.
Olivia is a 10th grader at Mercer Island High School. She can be heard from 8 to 10 pm every Monday on the Olivia Show. She loves writing, music and history and AHS. Though they look nothing alike, she is commonly confused with her twin sister, Audrey Wen, who does not do radio.
Anthony is a senior at Mercer Island High School and is the intro class Program Director. He hosts “The Morning Buzz” every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8 to 9 AM. He also runs the board and sound for MIHS sporting events. Outside of school Anthony enjoys coding hanging out with friends, playing football, snowboarding, and stage managing. He is looking forward to a good senior year at KMIH.
Cam is a freshman in the intro to Radio Broadcasting class at Mercer Island High School. He really enjoys working behind the scenes in radio and is possibly interested in a radio career. Cam loves to Ski, spend time in the mountains, and play video games. His favorite seasons are Winter and Fall because of the cold and snowy weather. Cam has lived on Mercer Island for 11 years and he hopes to stay in the northwest for the rest of his life.
Ella is a freshman at Mercer Island High School. She is an Intro student and has been interested in radio since she was young. She is, along with Casey Amico, a host of Let’s Be Perfectly Queer. Outside of school she enjoys volleyball, listening to music and spending time with her dog. You can hear her Thursdays from 8 to 10 on KMIH.
Rory is a sophomore at Mercer Island High school and he goes on the air Friday nights from 6-8 PM. When Rory is not on the radio he is out on the baseball field playing his favorite sport. You can find the Rory and Greg Show on Fridays from 6-8 PM.
Sophia is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School and this is her first year on 889 The Bridge. Sophia also plays tennis for the high school and can’t wait to talk on the radio more! Make sure to tune into her show on Mondays at 10 with Tala and Bailey.
Tala is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School who enjoys watching competitive soccer. In her free time she often listens to music and hangs out with friends. She loves to travel and explore exotic places around the world. You can hear her on the radio every Monday at 10 PM on the “Bailey, Sophia, and Tala Show”!
Bailey is a 10th grade student in Joe’s intro to radio at Mercer Island High School. She loves playing soccer and has a radio show along with Tala and Sophia starting at 10:00 PM Monday nights.
Simon is a freshman at Mercer Island High School. He enjoys playing soccer and hanging out with friends and family. He is currently one of the hosts on 88.9’s fantasy football talk show, Fantasy Island.
Ian is a freshman at Mercer Island High School who enjoys soccer and hip-hop. He plays for the high school soccer team and enjoys radio class a lot.
Olivia is a freshman at Mercer Island High School. She loves music, and plays piano and guitar. You can hear her on Mondays from 8 to 10 pm on the Olivia Show.
Meghana is a sophomore at Mercer Island High School and the host of a new show, “Life is Good” that airs from 7 to 8 on Wednesdays. On the show, Meghana entertains but deals with issues that effect our lives today. When not on air, Meghana can be found playing jazz, reading good fiction novels, and watching Marvel movies.
Casey is an intro student and a freshman at Mercer Island High School. She has been interested in being on the KMIH staff since kindergarten, when her brother told her about the radio station at the high school. She joined the class with full force, quickly becoming the host of her own variety show, Lets Be Perfectly Queer, with her co-host, Ella. Outside of school, you can find Casey drawing, listening to music, and spending her time with friends. Listen to Casey in KMIH Thursdays from 8 to 10 PM.
Mollie is a sophomore and the co-host of the soon to be hit show “By Golly, Its Martha and Mollie!” Which is on Wednesdays from 8 to 10 pm if you’re interested, which she knows you are. If she’s not doing homework, she’s at rehearsal, and if she’s not at rehearsal, she’s likely binge watching a new TV show, or spending time with friends. She doesn’t know how she makes time for this either. She is (pretty clearly) hilarious as well.
Daniel is a junior at Mercer Island High School and a first year staff member of KMIH, and his hobbies include watching sports and playing video games.
Donovan is a student in radio class at Mercer Island High School. He has a part time role at the station and he is an announcer. He gets played on Saturday afternoons. He likes motorcycles and old cars.
Joe is a 9th grader at Mercer Island High School. He loves playing sports, watching tv, and reading comic books. His main sport is without a doubt basketball, he plays shooting guard and he has helped his team go on to play in the state basketball tournament twice. His favorite TV shows to watch are Daredevil, Family Guy, and Rick and Morty. In radio broadcasting, he is doing a show with two of his friends, Simon and David. The show is about fantasy football. He also has a show on the horizon about music that he’s doing with Ian.
Celia is a freshman at Mercer Island High School. She loves playing volleyball, listening to music, and playing video games. You can hear her show on Wednesdays from 4 to 6 PM.
Martha is not 70 years old, despite what her name suggests. She is actually a sophomore, costar of the hit show “By Golly, It’s Martha and Mollie.” She hopes you think she’s funny!
Jamisen is currently a freshmen at Mercer Island High School and does middays on Wednesday guy. He is an avid Deans Marvel comic book reader and comic movies. He plays for the Mercer Island Football team. Fun facts, his favorite TV show is The Flash and his favorite school subject is History!
Carver is a freshman at Mercer Island High School. He “enjoys” working with computers and trying out programming.
Landon is a ninth grader, he is 15 years and his role at the station is to record a show that airs every saturday from 12-1 pm. He loves to play video games, and to eat cup noodles. And he has a level a town hall in the mobile game clash of clans.
Sean enjoys playing online games and browsing online forums. On weekends his main pastimes are lying down in a bed for hours after he is woken up, staring at the ceiling in the vain hope that hell be struck with a random case of spontaneous combustion, or gazing wistfully at the night sky waiting for some random chunk of space rock to strike his house. When he’s not performing these activities, he enjoys hanging out with friends and listening to Through the Fire and Flames on repeat. At the station, Sean manages a one hour long time slot at 10 pm on Wednesdays, where he talks to many people about many topics that he is interested in.
Ethan is a ninth grader at MIHS and is 15 years old. He can be heard on Saturday nights from 10 to 11 pm. He is daring and loves to mountain bike, ski, run cross country,and run track. He also loves food.
Greg is a very friendly and outgoing person. He has grown up on the island for most of his childhood and has gone to school his whole life on the island. He enjoys to hang out with family and friends. His favorite sport is baseball, Greg is going to attend Oregon State University next year for school and baseball. In the radio station Greg has his own talk show with his long time friend Roy. Their show is called the G & R Sports talk show. Their show airs form 6 to 8 pm every Friday.
